Cuba
Travelling through swinging Cuba by Viazul bus. Easy to pick one and to travel through the country. Sleeping and eating in a casa particolare, with residents at home. Not very easy when you don´t speak any word Spanish, but they are very friendly and prepare great food. We went from east to west, starting in Holguin and drove to the relaxed place Santiago de Cuba. Everywhere was live music and people were very friendly. It’s nice to have a day trip to basilica El Cobre and to the castle Castello del Morro. From there we went to Santa Clara to turn to Remedios to celebrate the Christmas festival “Las Parrandas de Remedios”. On the last night we were part of the dramatic fireworks competition between the districts San Salvador and El Carmen. After thousands and thousands of rockets (firework) we took a taxi back to Santa Clara where we took the bus to Havana, which is a great capital with a lot of Spanish colonial buildings which could use some renovation. After Havana we went to the beautiful Viñales Valley to relax a couple of days…
